MWH Treatment Limited has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.

The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.

The application is to vary licence number NW/071/0330/002 to abstract water from Superficial Desposits, at Burnley Waste Water Treatment Works between National Grid References (NGRs) SD 82589 35502, SD 82861 35485, SD 82833 35309 and SD 82573 35328 for the purpose of transferring it without intervening use to Spurn Clough at National Grid Reference SD 82728 35494 or Alluvium aquifers within the NGRs SD 82649 35561, SD 82739 35564, SD 82733 35511, SD 82652 35508 and SD 82510 35407, SD 82550 35415, SD 82570 35326, SD 82529 35317.

The variation is adding an abstraction area between National Grid References. Also, for temporary discharge during the DTPS dewatering is proposed to Manhole ST3 which outfalls to Pendle Water not Spurn Clough.
