This Notice should be read in conjunction with the Merchant Shipping (Cargo and Passenger Ship Construction and Miscellaneous Amendments) Regulations 2023

Legislation is being introduced to implement the current version of SOLAS Chapter II-1, which includes an ambulatory reference provision to give effect to changes to SOLAS Chapter II-1 as it is amended from time to time.

Ships built before 1 January 2009 engaged on international voyages are required to comply with the requirements set out in the Annex to this Merchant Shipping Notice.

Ships built on or after 1 January 2009 engaged on international voyages must comply with the provisions of SOLAS Chapter II-1 applicable to such ships, as amended from time to time. Such amendments will be incorporated into UK law by virtue of the ambulatory reference provision.

This Merchant Shipping Notice should be read in conjunction with The Merchant Shipping (Cargo and Passenger Ship Construction and Miscellaneous Amendments) Regulations 2023 (“the Regulations”).
