Notice to all owners and operators of inland waterway vessels, and navigation and harbor authorities.

This notice updates and replaces MSN 1880(M) and should be read in conjunction with MSN 1879 Amendment 1, and MSN 1881.

The purpose of this Merchant Shipping Notice is to set out the technical requirements of Annex II to Directive (EU) 2016/1629.

The Annex to this Notice contains the revised technical standard (ES-TRIN 2019/1) which replaced ES-TRIN 2017/1 on 1 January 2020.

This Merchant Shipping Notice also provides background information concerning the amendment process for Annex II of Directive (EU) 2016/1629.
