Mr Robert Peter Brown has applied to the Environment Agency for 2 licences.
The Environment Agency is giving notice of these applications (in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006).
The application is for a full licence to abstract (take) water from the Back Gill, Long Ridge, Bishopdale, Leyburn, North Yorkshire, National Grid Reference SD 95109 82140.
The application is to abstract water as follows:
- 144 cubic metres an hour
- 3,456 cubic metres a day
- 1,261,440 cubic metres a year
The water will be used all year round for hydro-electric power production. All abstracted water will be returned to the Back Gill at NGR SD 95999 82572.
Mr Robert Peter Brown has also applied to the Environment Agency for a licence to obstruct or impede the flow of the Back Gill at NGR SD 95109 82140. The purpose of impounding water by means of the works is to install a screened intake weir to facilitate the abstraction.
