An application has been made to the Environment Agency by Mr Philip Inglis. The Environment Agency are required to give notice of this application.

The application is for a full licence to abstract (take) water from River Nene at National Grid Reference (NGR) SP 99129 78988.

The proposal is to abstract water at the following rates and periods:

  • 4,000 litres per second
  • 14,400 cubic metres an hour
  • 345,600 cubic metres a day
  • 76,000,000 cubic metres a year

The water will be used for a hydro-electric power production scheme. Applications are also being made for licences to obstruct or impede the flow of the River Nene at NGR SP 99122 78949 and SP 99116 78942. The object of impounding water by means of the works is to raise the sill heights of an existing weir and sluice gate.
