Mr Graham White & Mr Rod White trading as J D White and Sons has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.
The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.
The application is to vary licence number MD/054/0013/005 which authorises the abstraction of water from the River Avon at a reach between National Grid References (NGRs) SP 24708 56188 and SP 23718 56534.
The variation is to add the purposes of ‘trickle irrigation’ and ‘winter fill for subsequent irrigation’, to abstract water for a winter fill reservoir.
The stored water will be discharged back into the River Avon to be re-abstracted downstream at five other reaches and a single abstraction point that appear on partnered licences, between NGRs SP 23718 56534 and SP 07478 49061, during the summer Hands-off Flow period.
The below quantities will be added to the current licence and abstraction period changed to all year:
- 114,000 cubic metres per year
- 5,760 cubic metres per day
- 240 cubic metres per hour
- At an instantaneous rate not exceeding 66 litres per second
