This MOT special notice was about nominated tester training assessments (NTTA) ending in 31 August 2016. There’s a new process to become an MOT tester.

For all authorised examiners (AEs) and nominated testers (NTs)

1: Nominated tester training assessment (NTTA) to end

DVSA is changing the entry requirements for new testers bringing the nominated tester training assessment (NTTA) to an end as part of its changes to MOT training.

However, mechanics without an acceptable qualification or accreditation will still be able to become an MOT tester.

Any nominated tester training (NTT) applications for applicants needing to sit the NTTA will no longer be accepted after 31 March 2016.

After this date DVSA won’t offer applicants without an acceptable qualification or accreditation the option of sitting the NTTA.

If an applicant passes the assessment they have until 31 August 2016 to attend an appropriate NTT course.

If they’ve not successfully completed a NTT course by this date, they’ll need to gain either an acceptable qualification or accreditation before being accepted onto a one.

NTs must acknowledge they’ve read and understood this MOT special notice by clicking the green ‘Acknowledge’ button, this can only be done through the MOT testing service.
