Request
Guidance on the following:
- is it a formal requirement under SIA or SIA compliance standards for mobile response officers to make regular check calls?
- if vehicle tracking and control room monitoring are already in place, does this satisfy the duty of care and lone worker monitoring expectations?
Response
The SIA does not hold the information you have requested.
It will be a matter for an employer to determine whether they require mobile response officers to make regular check calls.
It is also a matter for an employer to determine whether vehicle tracking and control room monitoring satisfies the duty of care and lone worker monitoring expectations. The Health and Safety Executive has produced guidance for employers and those who lone work which can be found here: Lone working: Protect those working alone - HSE
