The TSRB was asked on 15 January 1975 by the Prime Minister to review and recommend changes in the emoluments, allowances and expenses of Ministers of the Crown and Members of the House of Commons including Mr. Speaker and other holders of remunerated offices in both Houses of Parliament together with the relevant pension arrangements; and in the rates and conditions of payment of the Peers’ expenses allowance.
Part I of the TSRB’s analysis and recommendations - published on 16 July 1975 - covered the salary of MPs, the ‘Parliamentary salary’ of Ministers and paid office holders in both Houses of Parliament, and the main allowances and facilities. This Report sets out Part II of the TSRB’s analysis and recommendations on allowances and facilities held over from Part I for further consideration, the Parliamentary pension scheme, and the pay and pensions of Ministers and other paid office holders in both Houses of Parliament.
