In December 2010, five Secretaries of State issued a joint letter to Community Safety Partnership (CSP) managers on the crucial role of effective partnership working in tackling crime and reducing re-offending. The letter demonstrated that community safety continues to be a key priority for the government collectively and recognised the very real challenges which local partners are facing in agreeing local priorities and budgets for the year ahead.
The letter from the Home Secretary, Secretary of State for Health, Secretary of State for Justice, Communities Secretary and the Secretary of State for Education outlined the government’s reform agenda on cutting crime and provided further information on funding available to CSPs.
A separate letter was also sent out to CSPs in Wales to reflect the devolved responsibilities of certain community safety partners. To find out more about the reform agenda on cutting crime please email CSPenquiries@homeoffice.gov.uk
