Summary
This Marine Information Note (MIN) provides information regarding a conformity marking error that has occurred in CS-SL3-WS3 Lifejacket lights manufactured by Ideas Connected Ltd and distributed by Crewsaver and others listed in Annex 1. This in no way affects the quality or correct operation of the product.
1. Background
1.1 The lifejacket light, manufactured by Ideas Connected Ltd, Room 1310, 13/F, Remex Centre, 42 Wong Chuk Hang Road, Hong Kong, has been correctly tested and certificated under the Merchant Shipping (Marine Equipment) Regulations 2025 and MSN 1874 as amended, by Lloyds Register Marine Ltd, UK Approved Body number 8512, under certificate number LR23292856UKMB-01 with an expiry date of 26 June 2028.
1.2 Due to a conformity marking error, the UK ‘Red Ensign’ mark of approval was not placed on these products and therefore, it may appear that these products are not UK approved.
1.3 The MCA can confirm that these products are correctly UK approved and this can be verified using the UK Marine Equipment database which lists all UK approved marine equipment products.
1.4 The affected products are:
Ideas Connected Ltd lifejacket lights CS-SL3-WS3 – Batch numbers 2508, 2509, 2510 and 2601
2. Action required
2.1 Ship operators or crew using the affected lifejacket lights are advised to print a copy of this Marine Information Note (MIN) and retain it on board should it be required during survey or Port State Inspection. Should any users of the affected lifejackets have any further questions they should contact their lifejacket supplier.
