Agenda Item 1 – Welcome and introductions
Madeleine Sumption opened the 198th Committee meeting and welcomed attendees.
Holly White provided updates on MAC workstreams, including the Talent Review and the responses received for the Call for Evidence, ongoing analytical work on the housing, and noted that findings will be presented in future Committee meetings.
Agenda Item 2 – TSL: Occupation Judgements
Members of the Secretariat provided an overview of work relating to occupation assessments for the Temporary Shortage List (TSL).
The Committee discussed the approach to assessing occupations.
Agenda item 3 – ISAC
The Committee welcomed a presentation from the Industrial Advisory Council (ISAC), which provided an overview of the Council’s role, remit and current areas of focus.
The presentation highlighted work on skills and labour market issues across sectors.
Committee members discussed the presentation and raised questions.
Agenda item 4 – Migration and training analysis
A member of the Secretariat outlined a proposed approach to analysing migration policy changes and employer investment in training.
The Committee discussed the proposal and noted data limitations and wider contextual factors. It was agreed that the work would proceed on an exploratory basis.
