Agenda Item 1 - Welcome and introductions

Brian Bell opened the meeting and welcomed the attendees.

Agenda Item 2 - Home Office, MAC Secretariat and MAC updates

Claire Smith gave an update on welcoming the new Home Secretary and ministers to the department, and upcoming changes to immigration rules in the Autumn.

Holly White gave an update on current MAC work, committee structure and access to data.

Brian Bell gave an update on recent and upcoming meetings with devolved ministers to discuss current MAC reviews.

Jo Swaffield thanked colleagues from UKVI for the recent MAC visit to Sheffield.

Agenda item 3 - Annual Report: English Language Chapter

A member of the Secretariat gave an update on progress of the English Language chapter of the MAC Annual Report. The Committee were invited to comment on the plans for further analysis and availability of further data sources.

Agenda item 4 - Temporary Shortage List (TSL) Review: Stage 1 Sign-off

A member of the Secretariat gave an update on progress towards publication of stage one of the TSL in October and invited the Committee to comment on the report’s chapter drafts and recommendations, as well as future engagement plans for TSL stage 2.

The Committee discussed labour market test, occupation and employer switching, settlement, and visa duration.

Agenda item 5 - Salaries Review: Narrative Paper

Madeleine Sumption invited members of the Committee to comment on the developing narrative paper for the salaries review, including fiscal modelling, occupation specific thresholds and regional variation, job titles within an occupation, discounts, and potential salary threshold recommendations for routes in scope.

Agenda item 6 - AOB

Brian Bell gave an update on fiscal analysis publication plans.
