Agenda item 1 – Welcome and introductions
Brian Bell opened the meeting and welcomed the attendees and introduced new members of the Secretariat.
Agenda item 2 – Home Office, MAC Secretariat and MAC updates
Della McVay provided update on the Immigration White Paper and on the digitisation of the border. Holly White updated on IT and Engineering report, as well as Labour Market Team’s recent conversations with other parts of the Quad. The housing project is expected to begin in July with bids open at the moment.
Brian Bell discussed a meeting with vice chancellors on international students.
Agenda item 3 – IT and engineering final report
The Secretariat provided an update on timelines and the publication date. The Committee discussed the conclusions and narrative. The Committee considered the usage of the Annual Population Survey given the quality issues.
Agenda item 4 – Financial requirements for family visas - decision points
The Committee considered questions regarding individual vs household income tests and decided on how best to present recommendations on different minimum income requirements.
Agenda item 5 – AOB
Brian Bell discussed the timings for updated fiscal analysis.
