Agenda item 1 – Visa data matching project pilot

1. A HMRC representative provided an update on the matching of visa data to RTI PAYE data pilot. The committee expressed their interest in HMRC continuing with a full data matching exercise.

Agenda item 2 – Home Office (HO), MAC secretariat and MAC updates

2. Mathew Leng thanked the MAC for the work on the ICT commission. He also provided an update on HO business, including the introduction of temporary visas for HGV drivers, poultry workers and pork butchers to tackle the labour shortages and supply chain issues. Updates on trade agreement developments were also provided.

3. Toby Nutley also thanked the MAC for the work on the ICT commission and provided an update on staffing, committee appointments and the number of social care call for evidence responses.

Agenda item 3 – Annual report and associated projects

4. The secretariat provided an outline of the annual report. The committee were happy with the structure of the report and suggested amendments for the content. The committee will discuss the social care content further over the coming weeks.

Agenda item 4 – Social care research

5. The secretariat provided an update on the social care research. The committee suggested some minor amendments to the qualitative research plan.

Agenda item 5 – Shortage methodology review

6. The secretariat outlined the possible options for the shortage methodology review. The committee agreed that the secretariat should confirm the current methodology is fit for purpose. The methodology review is to be published next year.

7. No other business was raised. Brian Bell closed the meeting.
