Details of the application

Middle Level Commissioners has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.

The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 8 of The Water Abstraction (Transitional Provisions) Regulations 2017.

The Environment Agency has received the following abstraction licence application within the Nene catchment.

The application is for a licence to transfer water as follows:

  • at an instantaneous rate of 7,973 litres per second
  • 28,703 cubic metres an hour
  • 688,868 cubic metres a day
  • 251,436,668 cubic metres a year
  • between 01 April and 31 March inclusive in each year
  • at National Grid References (NGRs) TL 20827 97355 and TL 20826 97354
  • from abstraction location Back River at Stanground Lock, Stanground, Peterborough.

The water will be used for transfer for the purpose of Internal Drainage Board (IDB) functions.
