In October 2012, Monitor appointed a contingency planning team to assess the sustainability of Mid Staffordshire NHS Foundation Trust and develop a plan for ensuring local patients continue to receive excellent healthcare services if the trust is unsustainable.

The contingency planning team’s interim report concluded the trust was clinically and financially unsustainable in its current form.

This is the team’s final report, which suggests options for changing how services are provided in the area.
