This research represents the first year of the mid-size business customer survey, which will explore attitudes and perceptions of HMRC and taxation among these customers. The survey covered approximately 2,000 mid-size businesses.

Specifically the survey explored:

  • mid-size businesses’ experience of dealing with HMRC
  • perceptions of current tax administration
  • attitudes towards tax compliance
  • awareness and perceptions of recent taxation policy

The research also consisted 20 follow up interviews which explored issues of interest from the survey in more depth.
