Mick George Limited has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.

The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.

The application is for a licence to abstract water from groundwater consisting of superficial sand and gravel deposits at Langwood Fen, Manea, Cambridgeshire from two areas. The first abstraction will be from an area defined by straight lines running between the following National Grid References (NGRs):- TL 45178 84978, TL 44975 85133, TL 45083 85274, TL 45282 85121. The second abstraction will be from an area defined by straight lines running between the following NGRs:- TL 44950 85089, TL 45149 84939, TL 45043 84792, TL 44854 84933. Both abstractions will be for the purpose of transferring water without intervening use to NGRs TL 45026 84763, TL 45229 84959 and TL 45351 85215 at Langwood Fen, Manea, Cambridgeshire.

The application is to abstract water as follows:

  • 30 cubic metres an hour
  • 300 cubic metres a day
  • 96,000 cubic metres a year
  • All year.

The purpose of this water transfer activity will be dewatering.
