Mick George Limited has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.

The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.

The application seeks to renew licence serial number AN/033/0056/020 authorising abstraction from underground strata comprising of Tottenhill Gravels immediately west of the main Watlington Quarry, Norfolk and transferring it without intervening use to Hobb’s drain at National Grid Reference TF 62610 11730.

The application also seeks to move the area within which abstraction is permitted to the area within the boundary formed by straight lines running between National Grid References (NGRs) TF 63221 11180, TF 63702 11077, TF 63755 12231, and TF 63476 12167 for the purpose of transferring it without intervening use to surface water at Wattlington Quarry at NGRs TF 63104 11451 and TF 63392 11866.

Abstraction volumes would remain unchanged as follows:

  • 1,008 cubic metres per week
  • 52,560 cubic metres per year
  • At an instantaneous rate of 40 litres per second
