Michael Thompson has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence .

The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.

The application is for a licence to remove a weir which is an obstruction or impediment to flow of the River Test at Southington, Overton, Basingstoke National Grid Reference SU 50949 49768.

The weir will be removed to provide an environmental improvement by increasing flow, improving natural habitat and reinstating free fish passage.

This proposal has been prepared in accordance with the Test and Itchen Restoration Strategy in partnership with the Environment Agency and Natural England.
