Details

This report examines the mental health consequences of disasters, in terms of epidemiology and use of mental health services. It focuses on 5 specific disasters:

  • Gulf of Mexico oil spill, 2010
  • Hurricane Katrina, 2005
  • Indian Ocean tsunami, 2004
  • Enschede fireworks disaster, 2000
  • Chernobyl nuclear disaster, 1986

This review was commissioned as part of the Foresight project on reducing the risk of future disasters.
