Martin Antony Smith has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.
The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.
The application is to vary licence serial number 8/37/43/*S/0045 which authorises the abstraction of water from Pannel’s Brook between National Grid References TQ 97286 96231 and TQ 96641 95536, and an un-named pond at National Grid Reference TQ 97478 96311 at Burnham Wick, Burnham-on-Crouch, Essex.
The current licence allows the abstraction of water for the following purposes:

Filling a reservoir for subsequent spray irrigation (from 01 November to 31 March inclusive)

Topping up of wet areas on fields for the promotion of bird breeding (all year).
The application is to vary the abstraction period and the daily rate of abstraction from the un-named pond for topping up of wet areas on fields for the promotion of bird breeding only. The current licence only allows a maximum daily rate of 20 cubic metres to be abstracted from the un-named pond.
The proposed changes are as follows:
- September: 44.70 cubic metres per day.
- October: 34.60 cubic metres per day.
- November: 20.80 cubic metres per day.
- December: 15.40 cubic metres per day.
- January: 15.40 cubic metres per day.
- February: 26.60 cubic metres per day.
- March: 32.70 cubic metres per day.
- April: 51.70 cubic metres per day.
