Removal of a car on Marlow weir with Thames Valley Police.
The River Thames between Marlow Lock and Marlow Bridge will be restricted from 8am and 2pm on Wednesday 3 October 2018. The river will be opened to normal traffic once it is safe to do so.
Traffic will be managed by an Environment Agency vessel and traffic will be escorted past the divers in the water for their safety. The divers will have their own vessel on the water with the correct flag displayed while divers are in the water.
Be aware that the removal of the car requires cables crossing the river from St Peters Road Slipway. This slipway will be closed from 7am on Wednesday 3 October 2018. Once the removal process starts, there will be no navigation for this time.
Those in charge of all boats must observe any directions given by Environment Agency Waterways Officers, as well as any safety instructions given by the diving team’s safety boat.
The temporary restriction will be managed by our staff on a patrol launch throughout the day. Please follow their instructions. Communications will also be available on marine band VHF Channel 74.
Those in charge of boats should be aware that they are responsible for avoiding collision and should use all available means appropriate to the circumstances and conditions to decide if there is a risk of immediate danger and avoid it.
All directions as to river left and river right are given looking upstream.
Byelaws
Nothing contained in these directions shall supersede those parts of the Thames Navigation Licensing and General Byelaws 1993 as may be relevant.
And Notice is hereby given, that it is provided by Byelaw 52 of the Thames Navigation Licensing and General Byelaws, 1993 that:
The master of any vessel shall except in an emergency not pass any boat-race regatta public procession or gathering for the launch of a vessel or any other event or function which may cause a crowd to assemble on or by the river nor station his vessel thereon in such a manner as would risk obstructing impeding or interfering with such boat-race regatta procession launching event or function or endangering the safety of persons assembling on the river or preventing or interfering with the maintenance of order thereon.
The maximum penalty for breach of the Byelaws is £1,000.
