Manor Farm Rackheath Limited: application made to abstract water

Manor Farm Rackheath Limited has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.
The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.
The application is to vary licence serial number 7/34/09/*G/0148 which authorises the abstraction of water from the chalk at Manor Farm, Rackheath, Norfolk at National Grid Reference TG 28860 15630.
The licence authorises abstraction of water for spray irrigation as follows:
- 144 cubic metres an hour
- 3,383 cubic metres a day
- 154,500 cubic metres a year
- At an instantaneous rate not exceeding 40 litres per second
- Between 1 April and 31 October inclusive each year.
The licence is currently varied to allow abstraction during March until 31 December 2021, provided that abstraction during March is limited to:
- 40 cubic metres an hour
- 200 cubic metres a day
- 1,500 cubic metres a month
- At an instantaneous rate not exceeding 11 litres per second
The variation being applied for is to renew abstraction in March without the current limit on quantities, so that abstraction can occur at the same rates as authorised between April to October.
