All prisons are required to outline their security rules and procedures in a local security strategy (LSS).

This prison service instruction (PSI) sets out:

  • how to amend the LSS
  • authority for amending the LSS
  • guidance on assurance of the LSS

This is a current PSI. It came into effect on 21 October 2011.
