ACS approval: what to do if you lose your private security contracts
Updated 23 June 2026
This is what you must do if you are an SIA-approved contractor and you lose your private security contracts.
What you must do if you lose your private security contracts
If you lose your private security contracts you must tell us as soon as possible.
What we will do if you lose your private security contracts
After you have told us about losing your contracts we will ask for more information and decide what action to take.
Your company was eligible for approval because you provided private security services regulated by the SIA under contract. Losing your contracts after we approved you means you no longer meet our eligibility criteria. This puts the integrity of our Approved Contractor Scheme at risk. To protect our scheme, we might:
- withdraw your approval
- attach conditions to your approval to mitigate the risk to our scheme
We may allow you to keep your approval for a short time if you’re not currently delivering designated services under contract. But you must show that you can still trade and provide services. You must give evidence of this.
How to remain approved
To remain approved, you must give evidence that you have provided security services continuously over the last 12 months.
You must also show that during that time:
- you did not lose a contract because of poor service
- any gap between contracts was no longer than one month
- if you had multiple contracts, the total gap between them was no more than 3 months
