The Environment Agency has received an application to vary an environmental permit under the Environmental Permitting (England and Wales) Regulations 2010 from Duro Felguera UK Limited.

  • Regulated facility type: Combined Cycle Gas Turbine Power Station

  • Regulated facility location: Carrington CCGT Power Station Site at 132 Manchester Road, Carrington Manchester, M31 4AY

  • National Grid Reference discharge points: Discharge 1 (via Effluent Pits) at SJ 72621 93344 & Discharge 2 (via stormwater tank) at SJ 72588 93278

  • Receiving environment: Manchester Ship Canal

  • Effluent type: Trade effluent consisting of effluent arising from hydrostatic pressure testing and flushing during the commissioning phase of the power station. Water used for the testing will be derived from one or a combination of abstracted canal water; demineralised water and potable water depending upon the testing being undertaken. Discharges will be made at ambient temperatures.

  • Volume: Discharge 1 : up to 8000 cubic metres per day and Discharge 2 : up to 4000 cubic metres per day

The Environment Agency must decide whether to grant or refuse the application. If they grant it, they must decide what conditions to include in the permit.
