Loveden Estates Limited has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.

The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application (in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006).

The application is for a full licence to abstract water from the Sherwood Sandstone at Little Carr Farm, Gringley on the Hill, at National Grid Reference SK 71790 93528.

The application is to abstract water as follows:

  • 25 cubic metres an hour

  • 600 cubic metres a day

  • 60,000 cubic metres a year

The water will be used all year for vegetable washing and from 1 April and 31 October for filling a reservoir for subsequent spray irrigation. The proposal is part of a water rights trade with an existing licence holder.
