Details

There is still a small proportion of the total quota of 1800 longer semi-trailers (LST) that has not yet been taken up by operators, fewer than 400 remain unused.

We are now inviting operators who are ready to use longer semi-trailers to bid for a share of this remaining allocation. All operators can bid for a share of the remaining allocation, including those already in the trial and those new to it. If bids exceed the number of LSTs available, we will scale back bids accordingly. Operators will be free to use their allocations for either length of LST, 14.6 metres or 15.65 metres. We expect operators to use this allocation by placing firm orders with manufacturers to obtain the longer semi-trailers within 6 weeks of DfT confirming the allocation.

Only operators who are able to take up their allocation within this period should apply. Further documentation on question and issues is available.

Applications should be sent to freight@dft.gsi.gov.uk.

The closing date for applications is Friday 26 September 2014.
