Longcliffe Quarries Limited has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.

The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.

The application is to vary licence serial number MD/028/0040/011 which authorises the abstraction of water for mineral washing from underground strata (Carboniferous Limestone) at Brassington Moor Quarry, Aldwark, Derbyshire, within the area of National Grid References (NGRs) SK 23934 56917, SK 23974 56962, SK 24037 56817, and SK 24068 56838.

The variation applied for is to increase abstraction quantities from 70,000 cubic metres to 350,000 cubic metres per year, and add the abstraction area within NGRs SK 23746 57307, SK 23770 57275, SK 23875 57405 and SK 23906 57365.

The proposal also seeks to add the purpose of dust suppression at 100,010 cubic metres per year at National Grid Reference SK 23616 56944.
