On 1 September 2015, the sponsor licence held by the London School of Business and Finance was removed from the Tier 4 and Tier 2 sponsor registers.

This guidance tells you how the decision to remove the college’s sponsor licence affects you.

1. What does removal from the sponsor register mean?

Removal from the Tier 4 and Tier 2 sponsor registers means the college cannot sponsor any new international students or workers.

2. What this means for students and workers

Existing sponsored students and workers may continue with their studies or employment until a final decision on the status of the licence is made by the Home Office.

Students or workers who need to apply for an extension of leave or who have not already been given a Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) or Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS) will be affected.

3. You have a visa to come to the UK but have not yet travelled

We strongly advise you not to travel to the UK if the college is not listed on the sponsor register. Check the register of sponsors for any change in the college’s sponsor licence status.

4. You have a CAS from the college and have applied for your visa or plan to apply for your visa

If your visa application relying on a CAS was issued before the college’s licence was removed, we will consider the application and you may be invited to attend an interview. If your application meets the Tier 4 requirements, we will put it on hold pending a final decision on the status of the college’s sponsor licence.

If your application does not meet the Tier 4 requirements we will not hold your application and it will be refused.

5. You have a CAS from the college and an outstanding application to extend your leave to remain in the UK or you need to apply to extend

If your application to extend your permission to stay (relying on a CAS) was issued before the college’s licence was removed, we will consider the application and you may be invited to attend an interview.

If your application meets the Tier 4 requirements, we will put it on hold and you may be asked to provide additional information, before a final decision on the status of the college’s sponsor licence.

6. You have a CoS from the college and have applied for your visa or plan to apply for your visa

If your visa application relies on a CoS issued before the college’s licence was removed, we will put it on hold. We will accept new applications but put them on hold pending a final decision on the status of the college’s sponsor licence.

7. You don’t have a CAS or CoS from the college and need to apply to extend

The college can’t assign you a new CAS or CoS while its licence has been removed from the register. If your leave ends before a final decision on the status of the college’s sponsor licence has been made, you must find an alternative sponsor or leave the UK.

8. You were on holiday overseas when the college’s licence was removed

If you have a current valid visa, you can return to the UK and continue studying or working (as long as you meet all other immigration requirements).

9. You were on holiday overseas when the college’s licence was removed or intend to travel overseas

You can return to the UK and continue studying or working if you have a current valid visa (as long as you meet all other immigration requirements). You should check the sponsor registers for any change in the college’s sponsor licence status.

10. Advice for students and workers

If you have questions about how this affects you, contact the college’s student support team or call the UKVI contact centre on 0300 123 2241.
