The government will appoint a consultant to evaluate the strategic case for investment in existing and new rail capacity along the south coast rail corridor.

The consultant will produce a report addressing questions in three main categories:

  • demand for services
  • proposals to address demand, and feasibility
  • priorities for investment in the short, medium and long-term
