The following is to explain your rights and give you the information you are entitled to under UK data protection legislation.

What personal data we are collecting and why
Your personal data is being collected to contact you regarding your allocation, payments and for monitoring of delivery of the Local Authority Housing Fund Round 4. We may also use your data to contact you in the future for related schemes where there is a continuation of the same fund
The following personal data is being collected for this purpose: name, work email address, and organisational details.
Lawful basis for processing the data
The lawful basis for processing is Article 6(1)(e) UK GDPR: processing is necessary for the performance of a task carried out in the public interest or in the exercise of official authority vested in MHCLG.
With whom we will be sharing the data
MHCLG may share your personal data with government departments, including the Home Office, where relevant to fund delivery.
We may also share your contact details with the organisation involved in the evaluation of the programme.
For how long we will keep the personal data, or criteria used to determine the retention period
Your personal data will be retained for up to 5 years from the start of the fund 1st April 2026, and will therefore be expected to be deleted by 31st March 2031, unless there is a lawful reason to retain it for longer, for example, ongoing fund evaluation.
Your rights, for example, access, rectification, erasure
The data we are collecting is your personal data, and you have rights that affect what happens to it. You have the right to:
- know that we are using your personal data
- see what data we have about you
- ask to have your data corrected, and to ask how we check the information we hold is accurate
- complain to the ICO (see ‘Complaints and more information’)
- restrict processing
- object
In some circumstances you may also have the right to have all data about you deleted, or to object to particularly types of use of your data. We will tell you when these rights apply.
Sending data overseas
Your personal data will not be sent overseas.
Automated decision making
We will not use your data for any automated decision making.
Storage, security and data management
Your personal data will be stored in a secure government IT system. Where data is shared with third parties, as set out in Sharing your personal data, we require third parties to respect the security of your data and to treat it in accordance with the law.
All third parties are required to take appropriate security measures to protect your personal information in line with our policies.
Complaints and more information
When we ask you for information, we will keep to the law, including the UK General Data Protection Regulation and Data Protection Act 2018.
If you are unhappy with the way the Department has acted, you can make a complaint.
If you want to make a request to access your data, or another request in relation to your rights, or if you are not happy with how we are using your personal data, you can contact dataprotection@communities.gov.uk.
