LLW Repository Limited has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.

The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.

The application is for a licence to abstract water from superficial quaternary deposits at Low Level Waste Repository, Drigg, Cumbria within the area formed by the following National Grid References (NGRs): SD 05513 98892, SD 05519 98895, SD 05523 98890, and SD 05517 98886 and SD 05491 98887, SD 05497 98890, SD 05500 98885, and SD 05495 98881, to transfer it to soakaways at NGRs SD 05598 98876 and SD 05516 98848 without intervening use.

The water will be abstracted to create a dry working area for the construction of a bridge.
