Details

This document provides guidance for organisations that are required to comply with weights and measures law for liquid fuel and lubricants. Part 1 covers liquid fuel and lubricants measuring instruments covered by the Measuring Instruments Directive (MID), ie those put on the market on or after 1 October 2006. Part 2 covers liquid fuel and lubricants measuring instruments under national control, ie before the MID came into force and during the transitional period.

The Measuring Instruments Regulations 2016 came into force on 28 December 2016 under the New Legislative Framework (NLF), a common set of principles developed to improve the European internal market. The regulations focus on making procedures more consistent. They replace the Measuring Instruments (Liquid Fuel and Lubricants) Regulations 2006, but the existing technical requirements are unchanged, so this guidance remains relevant.

The Office for Product Safety and Standards issued guidance under the NLF in August 2017. Read the specific guidance on the provisions introduced by the NLF for the Measuring Instruments Regulations 2016.
