Life Sciences Large Investment Portfolio

Published 21 August 2026

The Life Sciences Large Investment Portfolio (LSLIP) – launched on 14 April 2026 – is a key commitment in the Government’s Life Sciences Sector Plan. It is designed to attract high-value manufacturing and research and development (R&D) investment portfolios to the UK.

If you are developing a portfolio of manufacturing or R&D projects, LSLIP may help you access government support and explore potential funding opportunities.

Check if you’re eligible

To be eligible for the LSLIP scheme, companies must meet the following requirements:

Business registration and sector

Companies must be UK-registered or a UK-registered establishment.

UK-registered establishments must also:

  • have at least one UK-registered company within their group structure
  • be wholly private-sector
  • operate in the medicines, MedTech, or diagnostics sector
  • possess all necessary regulatory approvals

Investment commitment

Companies must commit to investing at least £250 million over 3 years in UK life sciences manufacturing or R&D, with at least one eligible project starting within the next 12 months.

Financial standing

Companies must:

  • have 3 years of audited financial statements (for the member company or parent entity) and commit, including through the provision of securities from a parent company (which may be the ultimate parent, UK parent, or holding parent)
  • provide acceptable protection of public funds for any grants awarded under the scheme

Financial transparency

Companies must have financial and corporate information that can be readily validated through audited accounts and other publicly available disclosures. Companies with publicly listed parent entities, or equivalent reporting obligations, may be particularly well placed to support a streamlined and proportionate due diligence process.
