Details

To get evidence confirming that you were assessed as being, or at risk of being, a victim of domestic abuse, you should send the letter to the public authority and have them complete the letter. The assessment must show your name and the name of the abuser.

You can use this as evidence if you’re applying for legal aid to help you divorce or separate from an abusive partner.

If you work for a public authority, you can adapt this sample letter to confirm that the applicant has been assessed as being, or at risk of being, a victims of domestic abuse.

You need to give this evidence when victims of domestic abuse apply for legal aid.
