Details
Following an increase in best value interventions, this evaluation explores the experiences of councils in intervention in England from June 2020 to June 2025. It identifies learning and recommendations to help improve policy, practice, and the relationship between central and local government.
Government accepts this report, and intends to update the best value statutory guidance in response to the report’s top recommendations. A consultation will be launched later this year.
