Leeds City Council: application made to impound water

Leeds City Council has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.
The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.
The applications are for two licences to obstruct or impede the flow of Armley Mill Goit, Canal Road, Leeds at National Grid References SE 27442 34153 and SE 27679 34118.
Water will be obstructed or impeded through constructing and operating of flow control structures in order to prevent the flooding of Armley Mill at times of high flow in the River Aire.
Both applications are part of the Leeds Flood Alleviation Scheme.
