Details of the application

Land and Water Services Limited have applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.

The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application (in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.

The application is for a full licence to abstract water from the River Thames at National Grid Reference TQ 51427 80038.

The application is to abstract water as follows:

  • 1,000 cubic metres an hour
  • 10,000 cubic metres a day
  • 2,000,000 cubic metres a year

Abstraction allowed all year.

The water will be used for diluting dredgings from the River Thames so they may be applied to Rainham Marshes, this in turn will help maintain water levels in the marshes.
