The Environment Agency has received an application to vary (change) an environmental permit under the Environmental Permitting (England and Wales) Regulations 2016 from 1st Choice Concrete and Skip Hire Limited.

The proposed variation changes a standard rules permit into a bespoke permit.

Regulated facility type

This variation is a consolidation of 2x adjacent SR2022 No4 75k tonnes per annum Standard Rule Permits (references EPR/AP3997CP and EPR/EB3936AN).  This will produce a single bespoke permit with two activities; Hazardous waste transfer (due to the acceptance of asbestos wastes) (75k per annum) and Physical Treatment of Non-azardous WGahazardous wastes.  Annual throughput of the consolidated permit will be 150,000 tonnes per annum (although site already accepts 150,000 tonnes as two permits (as already 2x 75k tpa).  No changes in waste types accepted.  

The application will also include:

  • a small extension to the permit boundary.
  • a variation to allow storage of specific wastes outside.
