The Environment Agency has received an application to vary an environmental permit under the Environmental Permitting (England and Wales) Regulations 2016 involving substantial change to a permit from Veolia ES (UK) Limited.

The Application is for an existing Installation based in Garston, seeking to increase the treatment capacity of an existing waste solvent treatment Activity on site. Site is currently permitted to treat 58,000 tonnes annually, the Operator is seeking to increase the capacity by 28,000 tonnes per year to 86,000 tonnes per year. This will require the installation of two additional solvent treatment columns, similar to those already permitted on site. In addition to this, the Operator is seeking to allow the existing and permitted boiler used on site to undergo retrofit to enable use of a Solvent Distillate Fuel which has also been permitted on site with a previous variation for two other boiler units that feed the treatment process. This change on site qualifies as a Substantial Variation.
