Killington Sustainable Energy Trust: application made to abstract (take) water

Killington Sustainable Energy Trust has applied to the Environment Agency for 2 licences.
The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.
The application is for a licence to abstract (take) water from the River Lune at Broad Raine Weir, Broad Raine, Killington, Cumbria at National Grid Reference SD 62129 90173 to transfer it to the River Lune at National Grid Reference SD 62120 90148 without intervening use.
The application for a transfer licence to abstract water will be used for a Larinier technical fish pass.
Killington Sustainable Energy Trust has also applied for a licence to obstruct or impede the flow of the River Lune at National Grid Reference SD 62119 90159.
The existing weir structure will be altered to install an Archimedean screw turbine. The alteration works are to enable the abstraction of water for the purpose of power production.
