Details of the application

Kier Highways Limited has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.

The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.

The application is for a full licence to abstract water from Hillylaid Pool - Tidal Wyre at the Main Dyke at National Grid References (NGRs) SD 36577 39406 to SD 35769 40109.

The application is to abstract water as follows:

  • 6.6 cubic metres an hour
  • 65.5 cubic metres a day
  • 23,580 cubic metres a year

Water is to be abstracted all year until October 2023.

Kier Highways Limited wish to abstract water from the Main Dyke between NGRs SD 36577 39406 and SD 35769 40109 for the purpose of dust suppression during the construction of a bypass.
