Kier Construction Limited has applied on behalf of Norfolk County Council to the Environment Agency for a licence.
The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.
The application is for a licence to abstract groundwater from within 2 areas outlined by National Grid References (NGRs) TF 72466 19236, TF 72485 19240, TF 72493 19219, TF 72478 19218, and TF 72497 19189, TF 72502 19168, TF 72445 19150, TF 72437 19182, in the village of Gayton, and transfer it to a drain next to Winch Road at National Grid Reference (NGR) TF 72208 18986 without intervening use.
The application is to abstract water as follows:
- 72 cubic metres an hour
- 1,728 cubic metres a day
- 290,304 cubic metres a year
Abstraction will take place for 5 consecutive months from the first day of abstraction and will not be repeated.
The purpose is to dewater groundwater, lowering the water level in pursuance of installing foundations for the construction of a primary and nursery school.
