This international statement is from a group of concerned countries including members of the Lima Group, the International Contact Group, the European Union, the United States, and others.

The statement:

  • calls for free and fair presidential elections as the most effective way to achieve stability, recovery and prosperity in Venezuela
  • calls on all political parties to engage in, or support, a process to establish a transitional government to administer free and fair presidential elections
  • reiterates a willingness to discuss sanctions relief in the case of political progress
  • calls for an end to political persecution and repression
