Joint national protocol for transitions in England

Protocol to support the planned and safe movement of young people from youth offending teams (YOTs) to the Probation Service when they turn 18.



This protocol is between the Youth Justice Board (YJB) and the Probation Service in England.

It should be read in conjunction with the Youth Justice Board (YJB) Case Management Guidance.

The protocol identifies the responsibilities of each organisation to work together to ensure the transition process is carried out as smoothly as possible and ensure that there is a clear understanding of the commitments made in this document.
