John Grant (Donnington) has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.

The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.

The application is for a full licence to abstract water from the Higher Lode Drain in the Black Sluice Internal Drainage Board, Pinchbeck, Lincolnshire. They will have an abstraction point at National Grid Reference TF 17580 28320 and an abstraction reach between National Grid References TF 18140 28220 and TF 18620 28160.

The application is to abstract water as follows:

  • 105 cubic metres an hour
  • 2,500 cubic metres a day
  • 20,000 cubic metres a year
  • between 1 March and 30 November inclusive in each year.

The water will be used for spray irrigation.

The proposed abstraction lies within the South Forty Foot catchment and the Witham Catchment Abstraction Management Strategy reporting area.
