John Dobson & Son (Carlton) Limited has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.
The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.
The applications are for four full licences to abstract water from the following surface water sources at Green End Farm, Carlton, Wakefield:
- Bleakley Dike between National Grid References (NGRs) SE 34271 14210 and SE 35369 14406.
- Lee Moor Beck between NGRs SE 33655 24768 and SE 34036 25556.
- Carlton Beck between NGRs SE 34202 26559 and SE 34214 27185, NGRs SE 34128 27374 and SE 34015 27500, and NGRs SE 33821 27822 and SE 33812 27931.
- West Beck between NGRs SE 32974 27231 and SE 33328 27334, NGRs SE 33345 27343 and SE 33385 27363, and NGRs SE 33503 27488 and SE 33737 27661.
The application is to abstract water as follows:
- 27 cubic metres an hour, aggregated across all four sites
- 270 cubic metres a day, aggregated across all four sites
- 20,000 cubic metres a year, aggregated across all four sites
- between 1 April and 31 October inclusive in each year.
The water will be used for spray irrigation.
